Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Lobo Technologies LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the CodeScanner mobile application (the “App”). We built CodeScanner to be a privacy-first, on-device tool. We do not operate user accounts, we do not run a backend server that stores your data, and we do not sell or rent personal information.

1. The Short Version

  • Your scans, folders, created QR codes, and settings are stored only on your device using SQLite. We never see them.
  • We do not require sign-up or accounts and we do not run servers that hold user content.
  • The App connects to two third-party services for specific features: Open Food Facts (to look up grocery products) and RevenueCat (to manage subscriptions). These are described in Section 5.
  • The App requests Camera and (optionally) Photo Library permissions to function. Camera frames are processed on-device and are not transmitted or stored.

2. Information We Collect

Information stored on your device only. The following data is created and stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us and we have no access to it:

  • Scan history (decoded barcode/QR contents and timestamps).
  • Folders and the scans you organize within them.
  • QR codes you create using the App.
  • App preferences (e.g., theme, scan settings).

Information we do not collect. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or any account credentials. The App contains no third-party advertising SDKs and no analytics or telemetry collected by us.

3. Device Permissions

Camera. Required to scan barcodes and QR codes. Camera frames are processed on-device by the operating system’s barcode-detection capabilities. Frames are not recorded, saved, or transmitted by the App.

Photo Library / Media Library. Optional. Used only when you choose to (a) scan an image from your library or (b) save a QR code you have created to your photos. We do not browse, index, or upload your photo library.

4. How We Use Information

Because the App stores user content only on your device, we do not “use” that content in the traditional sense. The App reads and writes your local data solely to provide the features you interact with (displaying history, organizing folders, generating QR codes, exporting CSVs, etc.).

5. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services for specific features. Each provider is an independent controller of any data it receives, and its handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.

  • Open Food Facts (product information lookups). When you scan certain product barcodes (such as EAN/UPC) and request product details, the barcode number is sent to the Open Food Facts public API to retrieve product information. No personal identifier is sent. See openfoodfacts.org/privacy.
  • RevenueCat (subscription management). If you purchase or restore a CodeScanner Pro subscription, RevenueCat processes a randomly generated, anonymous app user ID together with purchase-related data (such as transaction identifier, product ID, and subscription status) on our behalf in order to validate and sync entitlements across your devices. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play. Subscription payments are processed by Apple or Google. We never receive your payment card or full billing information. Apple and Google may also collect installation, crash, and usage information per their own policies.

6. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not engage in “sales” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). The only disclosures we make are to the service providers listed in Section 5, strictly to provide the features you have requested, and as required by law.

7. Data Retention and Your Choices

Because your content lives on your device, you control it directly:

  • Delete individual items from within the App (scans, folders, created codes).
  • Clear all local data by deleting the App from your device. Uninstalling removes the local SQLite database and all preferences.
  • Manage your subscription through your Apple ID or Google account settings. To request deletion of records held by RevenueCat, contact us using the details below and we will pass the request along.

8. Your Privacy Rights

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. As described above, we do not collect personal information from users of the App other than via the third-party processors listed in Section 5, and we do not sell or share personal information.

EEA, UK, and Swiss residents (GDPR/UK GDPR). Where any limited processing occurs through our third-party processors, our lawful basis is the performance of a contract (providing the App and any subscription you have purchased) and our legitimate interest in operating the App. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

Other jurisdictions. You may have additional rights under applicable local law. We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframes required by law.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. International Users

The App is offered from the United States. Where third-party services described in Section 5 are involved, your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Each provider has implemented its own safeguards as described in its privacy policy.

11. Security

Your data is stored in your device’s sandboxed application storage, which is protected by your device’s operating system controls (including device passcode, biometric unlock, and full-device encryption when enabled). No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
